I like to tell a story in each of my photographs.

I am always looking for the that authentic moment that reveals what is human in all of us. With the help of my crew, I create a protective environment that
allows the people being photographed to relax, open up and move through the camera.

"The process that my partner and I had with Joan was unique. I've never worked with a photographer where there was such a collaborative relationship. When we first met, she came to our office to learn about us--not only to find out about our product and campaign vision, but where we came from, what our backgrounds were. From there, we went on a field trip... we went to the Metropolitan Musuem. And we learned more about each other's aesthetic.

Joan shoots like you hope. She shoots everything. She calls it "shooting through the moment," and it couldn't be more accurate. Some of our favorite selects were captured by shooting through moments that weren't contrived or staged."
